Most of the people that we have shared the Purposeek method of career change. Most have never heard about such an approach to both life and career transition together. Our method involves a new way of thinking about life & career change. It gives a new perspective and is expected to help many professionals in search of their next move.
But don’t take what people say for granted! Let’s expand on what and how the Purposeek Program differ from other career and development training programs?
How is Purposeek Career Change Method Different
Traditional career assessment programs usually rely on skills and experience assessment. This typically includes the knowledge and skills have you built throughout your career.
Next they will try to match these skills with the ones required by existing jobs in the market. This approach limits opportunities as you often find yourself applying for the same or similar job, in the same industry. For example, as a former finance director, the only opportunities I seemed to grasp were finance roles.
Traditional Methods
This traditional career change approach ignores your transferable skills. We get offered only the roles we have already performed or can perform without stepping out of our comfort zone. It is also what most of the career development programs would recommend based on your skills assessment.

‘Usually, there is very little consideration for life or heart factors.’
Life & Heart Factors
What do we mean by life and heart factors? It is about understanding who you are and like to do, where you’re at and what you aspire to become. In other words, it is about finding and living your purpose. What drives you? What do you value the most and what makes sense to you?
If you would like to include these factors into your next career change, you must resort to career coaching programs. Traditional skills assessment programs will not cut it!
Background
While I was searching for my next career change, I listened to many life and career change and coaching podcasts. These included interviews and trainings run by coaching specialists and mentors such as Tony Robbins, Simon Sinek and Brené Brown. This provided me with so many interesting insights and materials which changed my perspective, helped my heart and my mindset. However, the difficulty comes with trying to navigate personal action plans using the insights and information that they are sharing. In this age of podcasts, news and TED talks, it is difficult to filter and benefit from these learnings. Both in our personal lives and in our professional lives.
So, we are left with a choice, either to focus on our skills and experience and learn how to reuse them in the same and narrow environment, or to focus on your wellbeing and aspiration in life without any connection between the two. And here lies the gap!
How It Started
We have built the Purposeek Career Change Program to fill this gap! The program considers both your life and your career together as a whole. It considers both your skills and experiences, as well as your purpose, needs and aspirations all together. The objective is to help you achieve a fulfilled personal and professional life.
We have decided not only to curate the most valuable coaching insights but also to build a method from it. This method can be used by everyone and also re-used at any stage of their career or life.
The Purposeek Program is an innovative and unique method to find your inner purpose and choose your true career path. It does this through a collaborative journey in a fun and safe environment.
The method follows 5 key principles:
- Change your state of mind about work! Every Purposeek process is unique, and the Purposeek journey can vary in time and effort. We offer a collaborative method to reinvent yourself, which will stay with you throughout your life and career change journey. You will be able to re-visit it anytime in the future.
- We consider life and career as a one! Life and career complement each other, so we need to look at it holistically. Working on your life implies working on your career and vice versa. We spend most of our day working but there is so much going on in our personal lives which we often value more than work itself such as family, friends, hobbies, interests. Instead of juggling our personal live values against our career values, we take a step back and look at life and career change through a single combined lens and purpose.
- Knowing yourself, knowing who you really are is the foundation, the essence of everything. We all have an idea of who we think we are but most of us don’t really know who we are. This requires doing some introspection work that some people are afraid to do, not knowing what they will find. No matter how easy or complex the Purposeek journey is, it all starts within you.
- Finding your purpose is the key to living a fulfilled personal and professional life. And your purpose is also within you. Purpose doesn’t always ring a bell with everyone and sometimes, it feels like an abstract idea. So what’s a purpose? It is when you give meaning to things, when you pursue something beyond yourself like being in service or sharing, loving, and caring about others, the environment, a political view, an ideal, anything that makes sense to you. Even when we know our purpose, we often realise that our busy lives or careers are so far away from it. This often appears through the feeling of emptiness inside us, that you can’t seem to fill with what we have, no matter how many material things we possess. It can also appear through the feeling of anxiety or depression when we are not always able to identify the route cause. Most life and career change coaches support the idea that finding our purpose will help us live better and become more resilient towards hardship and bumpy roads in life. Because if we know why we are doing this or that, understanding our “why” as Simon Sinek recommends, is the starting point of our journey toward finding our purpose. Once you know your “why”, your “what” and “how” becomes much easier.
- Collaboration with others is the key to your success. You can’t do it on your own. Use the power of others to help you achieve your goals, fill the gaps and get the support you need with your career change. Any type of support, whether moral, technical or financial. Connect, share, learn, listen, contribute to clarify, and fast track your Purposeekjourney.
