Ok let’s get serious! In this exploration, we will delve into the concept of seeking purpose. Purpose is a crucial aspect of life as it provides direction and meaning to one’s existence. It gives people a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction and drives them towards a particular goal or objective. Seeking purpose is a journey of self-discovery, where individuals reflect on their values, strengths, and passions to determine what truly matters to them.

Isn’t she inspiring?

One example of a famous person who found their purpose and transformed their life for the better is Oprah Winfrey.

It feels like Oprah was born with purpose and that the first world she ever said as a toddler was purpose.

For the rest of us we don’t even know what purpose means before we hit our 30s, 40s or even 50s and realise how miserable we are.

So we start our quest for purpose like a newbie:

Hey I’m looking for my purpose, what about you?”

“Yeah me too! But I heard that it takes at least 10 years to find your purpose and at another 10 years to make a living of it, so if I’m lucky enough, I will have a fulfilling life “after retirement”.

Well let me tell you, this is not true!!, First of all, Oprah wasn’t the only one born with purpose. We all are!! Ok her first word may have been purpose, we will have to ask her 😉

The point is she found her purpose, did something about it, turned her life upside down the live her purpose and make a living out of it! Quite a comfortable living you would say! That we won’t need to ask her.

So you too can find your purpose, at any age, early or late, as a child or as a retiree. It doesn’t matter when you find your purpose. What matters is that you change your life to make room for it and start living your own version of a fulfilling life.

I think that we can now all agree that finding your purpose must be your priority to find your true career path.

Do what Simon says! Start with the “Why”

Let’s start with the why. Why do we even care about having a purpose? Well, for starters, it gives you a direction in life. No more aimless wandering, my friend. With a purpose, you have a clear goal to work towards and that can be pretty motivating. Plus, when you know what you’re supposed to do in this world, you feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. It’s like finally finding the missing piece to the puzzle of your life. Let’s also not forget, having a purpose makes decision making a whole lot easier. No more second-guessing yourself or wondering if you’re on the right path, because you’ll have a clear idea of what’s truly important to you.

Now, on to the how. How do you find your purpose?

  1. Reflect on your passions and interests. What do you love to do when you’re not working or doing adulting stuff? What do you geek-out about? These can be pretty good indicators of what you’re passionate about.
  2. Think about your strengths. What do you excel at? What do people come to you for help with? Your strengths can give you a hint of what you’re meant to do in this world.
  3. Consider your values. What’s important to you? What do you believe in? Your values can guide you towards a purpose that aligns with your beliefs.
  4. Experiment. Don’t be afraid to try new things and step outside your comfort zone. This can help you discover new interests and passions, and maybe even your purpose.
  5. Talk to others. Seek out advice and guidance from people you admire and trust. They may have insights and perspectives that can help you find your purpose, or at least make you feel better about not having found it yet.

Working on your “Why” and your “How” is not an easy task!
